Well, well, well… where to start? It’s been a while since you’ve heard from us.
The team at Breaking the Stigma have had a very busy year – including getting through university, working full time jobs and applying for new ones! Unfortunately this has consumed all of our time these past few months, but now that we have a break from the hectic mess it has made us realise that we need to return to the website for good. From our experiences, however, we also have some new topics to write about because of this!
As a small team working in our free time, we definitely put too much pressure on ourselves to write and update the blog (as well as finding other people to join in too). While we still want to maintain the blog, we are now changing the direction slightly and setting realistic expectations. Don’t hold us to it though!
You may have noticed that the site has had a bit of a makeover. This, we feel, has made it easier to navigate the website and will make the experience of using it much better. At the forefront of our website is the support section – ensuring that visitors can get all the help they require. Our Blog section has regenerated into a News & Blog page so that we can incorporate local, national and global news and developments in mental health, as well as adding the odd personal blog post.
The Home Page now includes an extensive calendar that can keep everyone up to date on the latest events surrounding mental health. By moving the News & Blog posts to a separate page, the Home Page is now solely focused on support, events and contact information. Throughout the process of making and maintaining the site we have kept our goal the same – to create a safe place on the internet that allows anyone to speak openly about mental health, as well as an environment to seek support.
Enjoy the newly updated website!
All the best,
Breaking the Stigma Team
