Breaking the Stigma is a platform where members of the public of any age and background can share their personal stories and experiences. Whether it is a short article about your personal experience with mental illness or about somebody close to you, or perhaps just a few helpful tips that you have found useful. All is welcome!
We created the site as we felt that mental health had been neglected and the stigma surrounding it was making it increasingly difficult for this topic to be discussed openly and honestly. This is why we have created a platform for people to voice their stories and break down the stigma around mental illness.
We have the vision of being able to support everyone, but predominantly would love to be able to highlight the lack of education and awareness of mental health in schools and particularly universities. We want to be active in mental health campaigns such as mental health day, as well as to spread a positive message and hopefully help people that are in need. We have the aim of being able to present talks to schools and universities about mental health and use our personal experience to help others.
If you have a story that you want to share, then you can email us a short summary of your idea and if all is approved then you can write a short story to post on the homepage of the website. We are open to any area surrounding mental illness, as long as it has a positive outlook and will be beneficial in helping to break the stigma!
